Wells Men's Soccer Wins 3-1 at Gallaudet

The Wells College men's soccer team earned a 3-1 win at Gallaudet University on Sunday, Oct. 2. Christian Garavito scored two goals for the Express, and Justin Bingham added an insurance goal to seal the victory in the second half. Wells has won five games in a row and has a 6-2-2 overall record and 4-1-1 mark in the North Eastern Athletic Conference. Gallaudet is 3-7-1 overall and 2-4-1 in the NEAC.

Garavito opened the scoring just three minutes and 15 seconds into the game when he slotted a shot across the face of goal from the left side into the bottom-right corner of the net. Wells led 1-0 at halftime.

Gallaudet tied the game in the 56th minute with a headed goal. Garavito added his second of the game in the 61st minute to put Wells back in front. He stole the ball at the edge of the 18-yard box and beat the Gallaudet goalkeeper.

Wells extended the lead in the 79th minute when Benjamen Schanbacher's cross from the right side picked out Justin Bingham in the box and he headed in the goal from six yards out.

Owen May earned the victory in goal with five saves. Gallaudet had a 10-9 advantage in shots and each team took four corner kicks.

With four consecutive conference wins, Wells has moved into third place in the NEAC at 4-1-1 in conference play. The Express hosts Penn College at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8.
