Wells Men's Soccer Earns Scoreless Draw Against Penn State-Abington

The Wells College men's soccer team lined up against second-place Penn State-Abington in a North Eastern Athletic Conference matchup on Saturday, Oct. 22 at the Wells Turf Field. Neither team scored and the game finished in a 0-0 tie after 110 minutes. Wells now stands at 9-3-3 overall and 7-2-2 in the NEAC, in fourth place. Penn State-Abington remained second with a 10-2-1 overall record an 9-1-1 NEAC mark.

The game was played under windy conditions and each team that attacked with the wind at its back had a shot advantage in that particular period. Abington fired 14 shots toward the Wells net in the second half, but only three were on target and goalkeeper Owen May stopped them all. He finished the game with six saves.

It was the fourth time in the last five games that Wells has kept a clean sheet, and goalkeeper Owen May has earned three of those shutouts. It is also the second scoreless draw of the year for the Express, which also tied 0-0 against Keuka College on Sept. 11.

The Express returns to action Sunday, Oct. 23 at 2 p.m. at home against Bryn Athyn College. Wells enters the match in fourth place in the NEAC, with the top seven conference teams qualifying for the playoffs. Prior to Sunday's match, the five seniors on the Wells roster will be recognized prior to the final regular-season home game of their careers.
