Goalkeeper Owen May Earns NEAC Men's Soccer Award

Wells College men's soccer goalkeeper Owen May was named North Eastern Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 23, 2016. May posted back-to-back shutouts for the Express in a tie against Penn State-Abington and a 4-0 win over Bryn Athyn College.

It is the second time this season that May has earned NEAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, as he also earned the honor for the week ending Oct. 2.

May made six saves in 110 minutes of play to help the Express preserve a scoreless draw through two overtimes with Penn State Abington Saturday. He then collected five more saves in a 4-0 win over Bryn Athyn on Sunday, giving him seven shutouts on the year to tie him for the most in a single season in Express program history. May, who has not allowed a goal in his last 329 minutes and 28 seconds of action, now leads the conference with a .890 save percentage while being second in goals-against average at 0.76.

Wells is 10-3-3 overall and 8-2-2 in the North Eastern Athletic Conference. The Express is in third place in the NEAC standings with 26 points and clinched a berth in the conference playoffs with one regular-season game remaining. The top seven teams in the conference earn playoff spots. Wells finishes the regular season Saturday at Morrisville State College at 3 p.m.
