King's Tops Wells in Men's Soccer Matchup

The Wells College men's soccer team played its second home game of the season and fell by a 3-1 score to King's College on Thursday, Sept. 14 at the Wells Turf Field. King's improved to 3-2-0 on the season and Wells is 1-2-1 overall following the non-conference matchup.

King's took a 2-0 lead in the first half when Liam McLoughlin scored twice in a span of 65 seconds. His first goal was a partial breakaway where he chipped the goalkeeper. The second was headed off a cross from the right corner.

Wells cut into the lead in the second half. After a foul about 35 yards out, Benjamen Schanbacher stood over the free kick and drove a shot into the penalty area that deflected off of a King's defender and went into the goal.

McLoughlin added an insurance goal for King's in the 88th minute on another headed goal.

Wells goalkeeper Owen May made seven saves.

Wells is back in action Tuesday, Sept. 19 at home against Ithaca at 7 p.m.
