Men's Soccer Falls In OT At Ithaca

The Wells College men's soccer team dropped an overtime contest at Ithaca College on Sunday, Sept. 2 by a score of 2-1.

Ithaca took a 1-0 lead in the 70th minute on a crossed ball from the right side that deflected into the goal. Wells answered in the 80th minute when a pass from the right wing by Junger Vargas connected with Christian Garavito. Garavito collected in the penalty area and chipped the ball over the oncoming Ithaca goalkeeper to tie the score.

The winning goal for the Bombers came 3:10 into the overtime period following a scramble near the penalty spot and was finished with a sliding shot attempt.

Colton Jaquith had 10 saves, including two excellent one-handed saves with an out-stretched arm that denied Ithaca chances early in the second half.

It was the second-straight overtime loss for the Express in two matches this season. Wells will play its home opener Wednesday at 4:15 p.m. against Nazareth College.
