Men's Soccer Scores Four, Wins NEAC Opener

Four different players scored for the Wells College men's soccer team as the Express started North Eastern Athletic Conference play with a 4-2 victory at Cazenovia College on Saturday, Sept. 8. The Express is 1-3-0 overall and 1-0-0 in the NEAC. Cazenovia is 0-2-0 overall and 0-1-0 in the conference.

Wells scored three times in the first half. Junger Vargas scored the first goal on an assist from Justin Butler. Justin Butler added the second goal for Wells. It was his first-collegiate goal following his first-career assist on the Vargas opener. Pete Paluch scored the third Wells goal on an assist from Vargas.

Cazenovia pulled back within two goals with an early second-half goal. Mekhi Edge-Wallace scored for the Express in the 55th minute with his first collegiate goal, assisted by Adam Whitaker. It was the second-straight game with an assist for Whitaker.

Goalkeeper Colton Jaquith had five saves.

Wells held a 17-12 advantage in shots.

Wells is back in action Sunday, Sept. 9 with a home game against Hilbert College at noon.
