McIntyre Hired As Men's Soccer Head Coach

Wells College has hired Jim McIntyre as head coach of the men's soccer program. McIntyre has been a part of Wells Express soccer over the last three seasons as an assistant coach with the men's and women's teams. He was head coach of men's soccer at Cazenovia College for four seasons from 2009 through 2012.

"We are excited for Jim McIntyre to lead the men's soccer team at Wells heading into the 2019 season," Wells College Director of Athletics Mike Lindberg said. "His familiarity with the current roster, the North Eastern Athletic Conference, and his head-coaching experience prove that he is a good fit for our team and our department."

One of McIntyre's main duties as a Wells assistant coach was to work with the goalkeepers on both the men's and women's soccer teams. Under his instruction and observation Owen May became the all-time wins leader among goalkeepers at Wells College and earned two all-conference selections. Wells women's soccer goalkeeper Kayleigh Hurley was voted as the team's most valuable player in 2018.

McIntyre earned a bachelor's degree in sports and recreation management from Ashford University and a master's in athletic administration from Concordia University. He was the owner and head trainer at Get Fit Fitness and continues to volunteer at Holding Onto Hope, which supports individuals and families in Wayne County affected by cancer.

The team reports for the 2019 season on August 16, and the 2019 season schedule begins with a home game Friday, August 30 against SUNY Canton.
