The Wells College men's soccer team got into the win column on the first weekend of the 2019 season with a 1-0 victory at Alfred State on Sunday, Sept. 1. The Wells goal was a converted penalty kick by Justin Butler late in the first half.
Wells goalkeeper Colton Jaquith had seven saves and earned his second career shutout behind an Express defense that kept its first clean sheet since a 7-0 win at St. Elizabeth on Oct. 13, 2018.
Alfred State had a narrow 12-10 advantage in shots in the match. Bergen Criswell had two shots for Wells.
Wells, now 1-1-0 on the season, is back on the road Wednesday with a match at Nazareth College at 7 p.m.
