Men’s Soccer Team on Short End of Defensive Battle

The Wells College men's soccer team dropped a 2-0 non-conference road contest to Elmira College on Oct. 8.

The contest featured defense with a combined seven shots on net between the two teams with Elmira holding the edge at 4-3. The Eagles proved to be a tough opponent as they sit in third place in the Empire 8 Conference both in conference standings play and overall winning percentage.

Elmira got one goal in each half as Wells goalkeeper Kingsley Ehling recorded a pair of saves in defeat. Elmira also took the edge in corner kicks at 6-4 and shot attempts at 18-8.

Offensively, Junger Vargas had five shots for Wells with a pair finding the target. Mekhi Edge-Wallace added a shot on net with attempts coming from Shane Syms and Dagoberto Guido.

The Wells men's soccer team next returns home for a pair of weekend NEAC matchups against Lancaster Bible on Saturday, Oct. 12 and Gallaudet on Sunday, Oct. 13 with both slated for a 12 p.m. start.
