Men’s Soccer Team Falls in OT after Late Rally

The Wells College men's soccer team rallied in the final minutes of regulation to send its contest against visiting Lancaster Bible College to overtime, but the Chargers got the OT winner as the horn sounded to take a 2-1 victory on Saturday, Oct. 12.

Express goalkeeper Colton Jaquith kept Wells in the game with many outstanding saves before Mekhi Edge-Wallace tied the contest with about five minutes left in regulation. Junger Vargas earned an assist on the game-tying goal.

Jaquith finished the contest with nine saves that included a stop in the overtime session. Ben Rabe, Christian Garavito, Edge-Wallace and Vargas accounted for nine shots with the latter three combining for eight.

The Chargers held the edge in corners at 10-2 and got the game's initial goal about midway through the second half after the teams went to the break scoreless.

The Express complete the weekend by hosting Gallaudet College on Sunday, Oct. 13 at 12 p.m. with another NEAC matchup.
