Men’s Soccer Team Starts Weekend Road Trip with Loss to Wildcats

The Wells College men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 contest to host Penn College on Friday, Nov. 1.

The Wildcats got on the board first about 10 minutes into the contest to take a 1-0 lead. Jimmy Stover came close to tying the game about three minutes later when his shot went off the crossbar.

The Express would not be denied in tying the game however, after Christian Garavito converted a penalty kick to the right side to draw Wells even with nearly 10 minutes left in the first half.

The only goal of the second half came from Penn with about 11 minutes remaining. The Express turned up the heat and almost found the tying goal in the final seconds after Ben Rabe put up a high shot that just missed squeaking through an outstretched Penn goalkeeper and the crossbar.

Wells took 13 shots on the day with three each coming from Junger Vargas and Stover. Nathan Soliman had a pair of shots with single shots coming from Garavito, Rabe, Michael Bove and David Martinez.

The Express had the edge in corner kicks at 8-7. Wells goalkeeper Colton Jaquith registered nine saves on the day.

The Wells College men's soccer team completes the weekend at Penn State-Berks with a 12 p.m. contest on Saturday, Nov. 2.
