MEN'S AND WOMEN'S SWIMMING FINISH FOURTH AT HARTWICK RELAYS

Oneonta, NY – Both the Wells men's and women's swim teams opened up the 2009-2010 swim season by finishing fourth out of five teams at the Hartwick Relays held on Saturday afternoon at Hartwick. Hartwick took the top spot with 124 points in the men's meet and 168 points in the women's meet.  Wells men's team finished with 42 points besting SUNYIT while the women's team finished with 32 points beating out Cazenovia for the fourth spot.

In men's swimming action the 400 Medley Relay Team, swam by Mike Scharvella, Jeff Dick, Drew Teter, and Dan Schilling, smashed the team record by over nine seconds, finishing with a time of 4:12.37. 

Also marking up the record books was the 200 Free Relay Team swam by Dan Schilling, Chris Guard, Jeff Dick, and Drew Teter. The relay team, which finished 3rd out of five teams in the heat, earned second on the Wells All-Time Top-Ten list with a time of 1:41.55. In the 400 Free Relay, Anthony Monachino, Chris Guard, Mike Scharvella, and Drew Teter swam to 3rd place finish while setting the 3rd best time in team history with a time of 4:03.25. 

In women's swimming action Idolyn Villiotti, Beverly Bauman, and Jackie Ross led the 300 Yard Backstroke Relay team to a 3rd place finish with a time of 3:54.41. 

Both Express swim teams will be back in the pool on Friday, October 30th when they take on the SUNYIT Wildcats at 6:00 pm at Wells.
