DICK SET TO SWIM IN SATURDAY NIGHT FINAL

Syracuse N.Y.–  Jeffrey Dick did what no other swimmer has done before at Wells College on Saturday morning, qualifying to swim in an individual final event at the N.Y. State Swimming Championship tonight starting at 6:30 p.m. Dick shaved off over a second from his school record time in the men's 100 Yard Breaststroke finishing 22nd with a time of 1:02.76; only the top 24 swimmers qualify to swim the evening final.

Although Wells has had men's and women's relay teams qualify to swim in finals, this is the first time that an individual swimmer has qualified to swim in an evening final.

It was also another record breaking swim for the men's team as a whole as three school records fell in the Saturday morning preliminary round. Along with Dick's record in the 100 Yard Breaststroke, the men's 200 Yard Medley Relay team swam by Michael Scharvella, Dick, Drew Teter, and Court Carnahan set a new record with a time of 1:47, qualifying for the evenings final.  Scharvella improved on his school record time in the men's 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 1:01.65.Scharvella's previous time was 1:03.41.

In the 100 Yard Butterfly, Daniel Schilling finished with a time of 1:01.26, Anthony Monachino swam a 1:03.11 and Christopher Guard finished with a 1:04.22 which was good for second, third, and fourth all-time in the 100 Butterfly at Wells.
