RECORD SETTING PRELIMS FOR MEN'S SWIMMING

Syracuse N.Y.–  The Wells College men's swimming team set a new team record in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, qualifying for the evening final, while Michael Scharvella and Jeffrey Dick each set individual team records in Friday morning's opening preliminary round of the New York State Swimming Championship being held at Nottingham H.S. in Syracuse.

The men's 200 Yard Freestyle Team swam by Scharvella, Court Carnahan, Jeffrey Dick, and Drew Teter finished 24th in the event with a time of 1:37.50 setting a new school record in the event. Their 24th place finish guarantees the relay team a spot in the evening final set to begin at 6:30 p.m. 

Scharvella shaved eight seconds off the school record in the men's 500 Yard Freestyle with a time of 5:40.11 setting the all-time mark at Wells, while Dick's time of 2:10.69 set the all-time Wells record in the men's 200 Yard I.M. Daniel Schilling and Anthony Monachino also cracked the Top-Ten in the 200 I.M. Schilling swam a 2:21.83 which places him second all-time, while Monachino's time of 2:32.52 places him 4th all-time.
