EXPRESS SET ALL-TIME MARKS IN DOUBLE-DUAL MEET

(Bradford, Pa.)─ The Wells College women's swim team defeated the University of Pitt-Bradford 48-38 and loss to Mansfield University 54-35 in the double-dual meet held Saturday afternoon in Bradford, Pa. On the men's side, the Express fell to Pitt-Bradford 113-60. In all the Express men's and women's teams combined to set seven all-time records.
 
In women's action, Gabby Spencer finished with a time of 2:29.32 in the 200 Backstroke, improving her second place all-time record set back on November 6, 2010 by nearly a second (2:30.31). Spencer also took second in the 50 Freestyle with a time of 28.24. Britta Kilbourn place second in the 200 Freestyle with a time of 2:24.19 and Idolyn Villiotti took second in the 400 Individual Medley with a time of 5:50.62. The women's 200 Freestyle Relay team (Villiotti, Kilbourn, Spencer, Erika Bareiss) had the only first place finish for the Express, finishing with a time of 1:57.38.
 
In men's action, the Express set six all-time marks. The men's 200 Medley Relay team (Mike Scharvella, Hunter Harris, Dan Schilling, Drew Teter) placed third and set the 6th fastest time in school history, finishing the relay with a time o 1:57.98. Chris Guard moved from tenth to ninth on the Wells Top Ten list in the 100 Freestyle, finishing third with a time of 57.99. Scharvella set a new record in the 200 Backstroke with a time of 2:25.75, besting his previous time of 2:26.95, while Harris moved to third all-time in the event with a time of 2:45.73. Schilling improved his top ten time in the 500 Freestyle, placing first with a time of 5:58.64 and moving to seventh all-time from tenth at Wells. Chris Guard placed first in the 200 Breaststroke and moved to 6th All-Time at Wells with a time of 3:00.47.
 
The men's and women's swim team returns to the pool on Jan. 29 when they travel to Geneva, N.Y. to take on William Smith and Cazenovia in a double-dual meet set to begin at 1 p.m.
