MEN'S SWIMMING SECOND AFTER DAY ONE OF CHAMPIONSHIP

CAZENOVIA, N.Y. – The Wells College men's swimming team found itself in second place with 161 points after setting four school records and one conference record in day one of the North Eastern Athletic Conference Men's Swimming Championship on the campus of Cazenovia College. Gallaudet University is currently in first place with 183 points.

 

The men's 200 Yard Freestyle Relay Team of Zack Divornicky-Raymond, Thomas Laier, Taylor Dunn, and Matt Sleezer placed second and set a new school record with a time of 1:33.74. Thomas Laier (East Nassua, N.Y.) also earned a second place finish in the 500 Yard Freestyle, touching the wall with a time of 5:23.57, setting the school's all-time mark in the event while improving on his personal best of 6:08.15. Teammate Chris Guard (Youngstown, N.Y.) (previous record holder) earned third in the same event improving on his 2nd all-time mark with a time of 5:31.40.

 

Matt Sleezer (Gloversville, N.Y.) improved on his all-time mark in the 50 Yard Freestyle  (22.83) finishing with a time of 22.63 in the prelims before earning a second place finish with a time of 22.81. Zachary Divornicky-Raymond (Hector, N.Y.) also had an impressive finish in the event moving into second all-time in the 50 free with a time of 23:03.

 

The men's 400 Yard Medley Relay team of Matt Sleezer, Ian Ronan, Taylor Dunn, and Zachary Divornicky-Raymond rounded out the highlights for day one with setting the all-time record at Wells and in the NEAC with a time of 3:58.57.

 

Cazenovia College is in third place with 124 points while SUNY Cobleskill sits in fourth place with 72 points.
