Sleezer Draws NEAC Swimming Student-Athlete Of The Week Honors

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – Junior Matthew Sleezer (Gloversville, N.Y.), a member of the Wells College men's swimming team, earned North Eastern Athletic Conference Women's Swimming and Diving Student-Athlete of the Week honors for the week ending Oct. 21, 2012, the conference office announced late Monday afternoon.

Sleezer opened the season with three first-place finishes, winning the 200-yard freestyle (2:01.02), the 100-yard freestyle (0:52.38) and the 100-yard individual medley (1:03.63) in the Express' 86-28 victory over Bard College at Simon's Rock on Saturday, Sept. 29.

During the Hartwick College Relays on Saturday, Oct. 13, Sleezer led all seven operating lanes with a time of 0:22.94 seconds through the first 50 yards of the men's 850-yard crescendo free relay. In the men's 200-yard freestyle relay, Sleezer finished the final 50 yards for the Express, posting the event's second-best final lap time (0:22.74).

Sleezer also partnered with freshmen Patrick Munroe (Williamsville, N.Y.), Jacob Cohn (Upland, Calif.) and Matthew VanAmerongen (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) to set the sixth-fastest time in program history during the men's 400-yard medley relay (4:25.37). Sleezer was a member of the four-man relay that captured the program's best time on Feb. 17, 2012 with a time of 3:58.57.
