Men's Swimming Competes Against Utica, Alfred St.

AURORA, N.Y. The Wells College men's swimming team competed against Utica College and Alfred State College on Saturday at the Wells College Aquatic Center. The Express posted a 139-74 loss to Alfred State and dropped a 174-44 decision to Utica to fall to 0-3 overall on the year.

Senior Alex Lamphear (Springfield, N.H.) had a strong finish for the Express in the 100 Yard Backstroke, posting a time of 1:05.56 to shatter his personal best in the event while posting the sixth-fastest time of any Wells men's swimmer in history. Freshman Owen May (Warsaw, N.Y.) turned in a time of 25.26 in the 50 Yard Freestyle, placing second against the field of 10 competitors.

Lamphear later added a second place finish in the 200 Yard Backstroke, posting a time of 2:24.83. Senior Tyler Fischetti (Weedsport, N.Y.) picked up a second place finish in the 200 Yard Butterfly, completing the event in 2:22.98.

The Express return to action Saturday, Dec. 6 as they face-off against Gallaudet and Cobleskill St. at the latter's campus in a 1:00 p.m. meet.
