Sleezer '14 Named Assistant Coach Of Wells Swimming

AURORA, N.Y. - One of the most decorated swimmers in school history, Matthew Sleezer '14 joined the Wells College coaching staff prior to the 2014-15 season.

Sleezer wrapped up a four-year career for the Express in 2014. Beginning his career as the team's Rookie of the Year in 2010-11, Sleezer went on to set five individual records for Wells and was a part of five record-setting relay teams. As a junior, Sleezer was selected as the Wells College Male Student-Athlete of the Year, North Eastern Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Year and his team's Most Valuable Swimmer.

Primarily a freestyle swimmer, Sleezer's fastest times in the 50 Yard Freestyle (21.94), 100 Yard Freestyle (50.02), 200 Yard Freestyle (1:55.80) and 1,000 Yard Freestyle (11:28.87) stand as the all-time program records. In 2014 at the NEAC Championship, Sleezer's sub-one minute time (59.69) in the 100 Yard Backstroke broke the nearly four-year-old program record.

Sleezer has won NEAC Student-Athlete of the Week honors six separate times and has earned All-Conference honors multiple times for his performances at the league's championship meet. A NEAC Scholar-Athlete selection in 2014, Sleezer graduated with a degree in History and a minor in Elementary Education this past May.

In addition to his coaching duties with the Express, Sleezer represents the College as an Admissions Counselor.
