Men's Swimming Nets Season's First Victory vs. Gallaudet

COBLESKILL, N.Y. – The Wells College men's swimming team picked up a 122-111 victory over Gallaudet University Saturday afternoon at a swim meet hosted by SUNY Cobleskill. Wells also competed against Alfred State and the host Fighting Tigers, recording a 147-85 loss to the Pioneers and a 192-60 defeat at the hands of SUNY Cobleskill. Following the meet, Wells' overall record in head-to-head meets stands at 1-5. 

Freshman Owen May (Warsaw, N.Y.) posted a first place time for Wells in the 200 Yard Freestyle of 2:06.77, the seventh-fastest time in program history. May later joined senior Tyler Fischetti (Weedsport, N.Y.) in the 100 Yard Freestyle, narrowly cracking the top-10 list of program-best performances with times of 56.72 and 57.13, respectively. May also notched a fifth place performance in the 50 Yard Freestyle (25.62). 

Fischetti later recorded a first place time of his own in the 200 Yard Butterfly, edging out the second place finisher by more than seven seconds after completing the event in 2:24.47. Senior Alex Lamphear (Springfield, N.H.) rounded out a strong overall effort for the Express in the 200 Yard Backstroke, finishing fourth with a time of 2:24.12. 

Wells returns to action Saturday, Jan. 10 as they travel to Buffalo State College for a 1 p.m. meet after the New Year.
