Fischetti Earns First Career NEAC Weekly Award

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – Senior Tyler Fischetti (Weedsport, N.Y.) of the Wells College men's swimming program was selected as the North Eastern Athletic Conference Men's Swimmer of the Week award for his strong performance against Pitt.-Bradford Sunday afternoon. He becomes the seventh-different men's swimmer in team history to pick up weekly honors from the league.

On Senior Day, Fischetti claimed a pair of individual victories in the home dual meet. He was the first to touch the wall in the 50 Yard Freestyle after finishing in 25.72 and later captured first place in the 100 Yard Freestyle with a finish time of 57.86.  His victory in the first event came nearly three-and-a-half seconds over the second-place finisher while his win in his final event came over seven seconds ahead of the next swimmer to touch the wall.

Fischetti earned Rookie of the Year honors in 2011-12 and was selected as the team Most Valuable Swimmer as a junior. A NEAC Scholar-Athlete in 2013-14, Fischetti earned First Team All-NEAC in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay that same year while also earning or helping his team to earn nine other Second or Third Team All-Conference honors during his career.

Serving as a team captain this year, Fischetti boasts the fastest 200 Yard Butterfly time in team history, setting the record (2:20.49) at the 2014 NEAC Championship, hosted by Cazenovia College.
