Men's Swimming Third At NEAC's After Day Two

COBLESKILL, N.Y. – The Wells College men's swimming program has earned 196 points through two days of competition at the North Eastern Athletic Conference Championships, held on the campus of SUNY Cobleskill. The Express are in search of their third NEAC title and will look for strong finishes Sunday afternoon.

Freshman Owen May (Warsaw, N.Y.) placed second for Wells in the 200 Yard Freestyle with a time of 2:00.36, earning 13 total points while posting a season-best time which also was the fourth-fastest by any swimmer in team history. Sophomore Lucas Donnenwirth (Frankfort, N.Y.) also registered a career-low time of 2:25.03 in the same event.

Senior Alex Lamphear (Springfield, N.H.) completed the 100 Yard Backstroke in 1:03.03, placing fourth amongst the 100 swimmer field with a career-best time and the third-fastest time in team history. Junior Tyler Morris (Maryland, N.Y.) used an eighth place finish in the 100 Yard Breaststroke (1:53.08) to record his fastest-ever time in the event.

Freshman Shawn Snell (Hilton, N.Y.) also set a season-low time in the 100 Yard Butterfly, placing fourth (1:16.17).

Senior Tyler Fischetti (Weedsport, N.Y.) placed second in the 400 Yard Individual Medley, touching the wall in 5:04.13 to earn 13 points in the process. His preliminary time of 5:02.48 gave him a personal-best record in that event. Later, the foursome of Lamphear, Fischetti, May and Morris competed in the 200 Yard Medley Relay, placing third and scoring 24 points with a time of 2:21.29.

Morris, Lamphear, Fischetti and May combined to finish the 800 Yard Freestyle Relay with a time of 8:46.88, taking second place in the meet and cracking the all-Wells Top 10 list in the process.

Wells concludes the three-day NEAC Championship on Sunday, Feb. 15 as they take to the pool at 10 a.m. for the preliminary round. The finals will commence at 5 p.m., an hour earlier than the two days prior, on the campus of SUNY Cobleskill.
