Johnson Claims NEAC Student-Athlete of the Week Award

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – Freshman Jordan Johnson (Brooklyn, N.Y.) of the Wells College men's swimming team claimed his first-ever North Eastern Athletic Conference Men's Swimming and Diving Student-Athlete of the Week award on Tuesday. Johnson and the Express were able to defeat Cazenovia by a 110-30 margin on Saturday sparked by his two first-place times.

Johnson posted the fastest 100 Yard Individual Medley time in program history, completing the event in 1:09.71 to take first place while competing against two other Express teammates. He broke the previous team record of 1:15.56, set by junior Keith Davenport (Weedsport, N.Y.) earlier in the season. Johnson later posted a top finish in the 100 Yard Butterfly, capturing first place with a top time of 1:09.18 (10th all-time in program history).

On the season, Johnson has competed primarily in freestyle and backstroke events – both of his first place times on Saturday came in his first-ever attempts at both the individual medley and the butterfly.

Wells will compete at the SUNY Delhi Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 30 at 1 p.m.
