Men's Swimming Stands Third After Day One Of NEAC Meet

The Wells College men's swimming team stands in third place, just 10 points behind second-place Gallaudet University following the Friday sessions at the 2017 North Eastern Athletic Conference Swimming & Diving Championships.

Arthur Brooks took third in the finals of the 200-yard individual medley. He clocked a career-best 2:28.16 in the event finals, which ranks as the eighth-best time in Wells history.

Austin Heil and Adam M. Sleezer placed in the finals of the 50-yard freestyle. Heil swam the event in 23.38 seconds and placed second. His time was a career-best and is tied for the third-best in Wells history. Sleezer finished fourth with a time of 26.44 seconds.

The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Lucas Donnenwirth, Tyler Lewis, Ian Ronan, and Austin Heil placed second with a time of 1:41.81. The 400-yard medley relay of Brandon Sprague, Lewis, Arthur Brooks, and Adam M. Sleezer was third with a time of 4:39.54.

In the 500-yard freestyle finals, Sprague was fourth with a time of 5:53.17 and Donnenwirth was sixth in 6:04.79.

Action resumes Saturday morning at 10 a.m. with preliminary races. Saturday's event finals will begin at 6 p.m.
