Join Wells Swim Teams In Fighting Cancer

The Wells College women's and men's swimming teams will participate in the Ted Mullin Hour of Power Relay for the 11th year in a row, to help raise funds and awareness to support cancer research. Funds raised will support research at University of Chicago Medicine into causes and treatment of sarcoma in young people.

This has been a great event for the Wells swim team. It will take place Tuesday, Nov. 14 from 5-6 p.m. at the swimming pool inside of the Schwartz Athletic Center. During this event the swim team will race for 60 minutes continuously. There are many ways that friends of Wells swimming can participate:

SWIM – It is okay if you are not the best swimmer – all are welcome – you must be able to swim at least two lengths of the pool (50 yards total) and you do not have to dive in. You can swim once or many times, that is up to you.

CHEER – As you can imagine this is a hard event for the swimmers so cheering all of us on would be much appreciated.

BUY Merchandise – Buy swim caps and t-shirts through this fund-raising page.

DONATE – Go to tedmullinfund.org to make a donation.

This nationwide event started 12 years ago when Carleton University swimmer Ted Mullin died of sarcoma, a rare soft-tissue cancer. His Carleton teammates wanted to do something to commemorate Mullin's life and created the Hour of Power Relays event. Complete event history and additional information is available at the event's website.

For further information about the event here on the Wells campus, contact swimming head coach Trish George at pgeorge@wells.edu or X3413.
