Seniors Lead Men's Swimming To Victory

The Wells College men's swimming team defeated SUNY Delhi 74-19 in a home dual meet Wednesday, Jan. 24 at the Schwartz Athletic Center.

The night started and ended with recognition of four Wells seniors who were competing in the final home meet of their Wells careers – Arthur Brooks, Owen May, Ian Ronan, and Shawn Snell. They were honored in a pre-meet ceremony, and then closed the meet by swimming the 200-yard freestyle relay and winning with a time of 1:53.76.

In individual events, Owen May swam 1:08.10 in the 100-yard butterfly and moved into ninth on the Wells record board in that event. May was second in the 200 IM.

Ian Ronan won the 100-yard freestyle in 1:00.33 and the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:10.67. He was second in the 200 IM.

Arthur Brooks took first in the 200-yard individual medley in 2:30.07.

Brandon Sprague won the 1,000-yard freestyle in 12:41.98 and the 500 free in 6:21.93.

Aaron Connolly won the 200 free in 2:19.79 and took first in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:17.14. Richard Ford was second in the 200 free.

Wells started the meet with a victory in the 200-yard medley relay in 2:01.55 by Brooks, Ronan, May, and Sprague.

Wells will be back in action Saturday, Jan. 27 at 1 p.m. with a dual meet against Cazenovia College, hosted by William Smith College in Geneva, N.Y.
