Bayly Collects NEAC Student-Athlete of the Week Honors

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – Senior libero C.J. Bayly (Waymart, Pa.) of the Wells College men's volleyball team earned North Eastern Athletic Conference Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week honors for his performance across the past week, the conference office announced Monday afternoon. Bayly and the Express are off to their best start in program history, racking up a 3-3 record through six matches in 2014.

Bayly becomes the third student-athlete at Wells to earn the league's Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week award, following sophomore Derek Nipps (Turnersville, N.J.) and junior Paul Hernon (New Hartford, N.Y.). After earning his first Student-Athlete of the Week award for men's volleyball today, Bayly now boasts six such awards after the inclusion of his men's soccer weekly awards.

Across two matches this past weekend, Bayly compiled 20 digs to go along with two service aces and two assists to help the Express split a tri-match at Sarah Lawrence College Saturday.  Bayly tallied match highs in digs during both contests, as he registered 15 in a hard-fought 3-1 setback to Brooklyn College before adding five more in addition to a pair of aces to lead the Express to a 3-0 sweep over the host Gryphons.

Bayly now ranks as the NEAC leader in both total digs (58) and digs per set (2.64) for the Express. Entering next weekend's slate of matches, Bayly is only three digs away for 300 across his three-year career with the Express. He is currently ranked as the all-time leader in assists (624), digs (297), sets played (175) and matches played (54).

The Express return to action this Friday, Feb. 7 as they face-off against Penn St.-Altoona, Berkeley College, Sage College and the host Keuka College beginning at 11:00 a.m.
