Bayly Nets NEAC Student-Athlete of the Week Honors

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – Senior libero C.J. Bayly (Waymart, Pa.) of the Wells College men's volleyball team has earned North Eastern Athletic Conference Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week honors for the second time this month, the conference office announced Monday afternoon. Bayly and the Express have jumped out to a 2-1 record within the conference and have also accumulated a 6-6 overall record on the season.

The senior setter helped guide the Express to a 2-1 week after tallying 30 digs (2.73 d/set) in addition to four assists through 11 sets. Bayly opened the week with a match-best nine digs in addition to three assists and no reception errors to guide the Express to a 3-0 sweep over conference foe Cazenovia College last Tuesday.

During NEAC Crossover Weekend play hosted by the SUNY Institute of Technology on Saturday, Bayly accumulated 21 digs during a 1-1 match split for Wells, which included a match-high 14 digs in a thrilling 3-2 win over defending champion Keuka College that marked the Express' first-ever win over the Storm.

Bayly currently leads the conference in both digs (113) and digs per set (2.63) for the Express. Across his career, Bayly stands as the program's all-time leader in digs (352), sets played (196) and matches played (60). He ranks in second place in team history in assists (632), assists per set (3.22), block assists (51) and total blocks (65).

After earning his second Student-Athlete of the Week award for men's volleyball today, Bayly now boasts seven such awards after the inclusion of his men's soccer weekly awards.

Wells returns to action this Friday, Feb. 21 as they face-off against Sarah Lawrence College and the hosts from Bard College at 6:00 p.m.
