Battumur Earns NEAC Defensive Player of the Week Award

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – Freshman libero Jack Battumur (Denver, Colo.) was chosen as the North Eastern Athletic Conference Men's Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week after a strong performance for the Wells College men's volleyball team this past weekend. Battumur and the Express posted one win and one loss, defeating SUNY Poly for the first time in team history Saturday evening.

Battumur registered 38 digs across a pair of four-set matches to average 4.75 digs a set for the Express during a home tri-match this past Saturday. He opened play with a team-best 11 digs to help lead Wells to a 3-1 win over SUNY Poly. He then closed the day with a milestone outing, tallying a program-record 27 digs while committing no reception errors and just one ball handling error against Penn State Behrend.

Ranked third overall in the NEAC in total digs (64), Battumur also ranks fourth in digs per set (3.05) for the Express, who improved to 3-3 overall following the split tri-match on Saturday.

Wells returns to action Friday, Feb. 6 as they face-off against Thiel and Medaille on the campus of Nazareth College starting at 2 p.m.
