Men's Volleyball Collects 3-0 Victory At Lancaster Bible

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Wells College men's volleyball team posted a 3-0 victory against Lancaster Bible College Friday evening at the Horst Athletic Center. With the win, Wells improves to 9-16 overall while boosting their North Eastern Athletic Conference record to 6-5. The host Chargers fall to 1-21 and remain winless (0-10) within the league.

Wells picked up the win via set scores of 25-7, 25-17 and 25-16. The 18 point victory in the opening set of the match tied the program record, equaled most recently against Cazenovia on Mar. 8, 2014 in the final set of a 3-0 win. In the first set alone, Wells racked up nine kills on 15 total attacks without committing an error.

Freshman Brannon Perdicho (Victor, N.Y.) had an errorless match for the Express, hammering home 11 kills on 17 total attacks for a .647 hitting percentage while posting a team-high four service aces. Freshman Scott Litvin (Sayville, N.Y.) set up 17 of his team's 29 kills while junior J.J. Podczasy (Macungie, Pa.) led the way with six digs on defense.

Leading 14-6 in the first set, Wells posted 11 of the matches next 12 points that was capped off by seven-straight points with freshman Thomas Bogarowski (Hanover Township, Pa.) serving. A Perdicho kill at set point elevated the Express to the first set win.

Boasting a 3-2 advantage in the second set, Bogarowski once again led the Express to a streak of six points to post an 8-3 lead. Leading 20-9, Lancaster Bible posted a strong comeback but the Express ultimately captured the middle set, 25-12.

The host Chargers did not go quietly in the third set as the match as they led at several different junctures in the stanza. A service error by Lancaster Bible leading 12-10 set the Wells comeback in motion as senior Andy Jacobs (Millburn, N.J.) served during five-straight Wells points. Perdicho had a strong serving performance as well down the stretch, adding a service ace during a five point run at 18-14.

Corey Leonard posted a team-best six kills for Lancaster Bible. Paul Fulbright set up 10 kills while Justin Stoltzfus registered 10 digs defensively. Alex Woelkers led his team with two service aces in the match.

The Express return to action Saturday, Mar. 21 as they battle Keuka and Penn St.-Altoona in back-to-back North Eastern Athletic Conference matches starting at 1 p.m. on the campus of Lancaster Bible College.
