Men's Volleyball Opens Season At SUNY Poly Invitational

The Wells College men's volleyball team began its 2017 season with a pair of opening-day matches at the SUNY Polytechnic Institute Invitational on Friday, Jan. 20. In the opening match, Elms College defeated Wells 3-1 and the second match of the night was a 3-0 win by Stevenson College over Wells. The Express continues play at the event on Saturday against Vassar at 1 p.m. and Cairn at 3 p.m.

Set scores were 25-22, 25-20, 21-25, 25-22. Wells found its offense in the third set, and hit .323 in the set with 13 kills and just three errors in 31 attempts.

Over the course of the match, freshman Caden O'Loughlin had 15 kills and hit .355 in his collegiate debut. He added seven digs. Brannon Perdicho had 10 kills and nine digs.

Scott Litvin had 33 assists and the only service ace of the match for Wells. Ryan Turner had one solo block and three assisted blocks.

Stevenson 3, Wells 0

In the second match of the night, Stevenson edged the first set by a 27-25 score and then won the next two sets by scores of 25-11 and 25-18.

Caden O'Loughlin again led Wells with 12 kills and a .320 hitting percentage.

Scott Litvin had 12 assists and Josh Undari had eight assists. Undari had one service ace and Litvin led Wells with six digs.
