Straight-Sets Win For Men's Volleyball Over Sage

The Wells College men's volleyball team defeated The Sage Colleges in three sets on Wednesday, March 1 at the Schwartz Athletic Center in Aurora, N.Y. Set scores were 25-22, 25-19, 25-21. It is the second consecutive 3-0 win for Wells.

The Express stands at 7-9 on the season and the Sage Gators are 8-8 overall. Wells returns to North Eastern Athletic Conference play this weekend, with NEAC crossover matches hosted by Keuka College. Wells will face Hilbert College and Medaille College on Saturday, and D'Youville College on Sunday.

Wells came out firing in the first set and won 25-22 with a .444 hitting percentage on 15 kills with just three errors. Wells maintained a consistent lead through the first half of the opening set, but Sage came back to tie the set at 16-16 and 17-17. The Gators went ahead 20-17, but Wells closed the set on an 8-2 run that included three kills from Caden O'Loughlin.

The Express won the first three points of the second set and never trailed on the way to a 25-19 triumph. Wells led by as many as nine points in the second set.

In the third set, Sage took an early lead and maintained an advantage until Wells came back to take a 14-13 lead in the set during a four-point streak. Sage tied the score at 16-16, but Wells closed out the set and the match with a 25-19 win.

For the match, O'Loughlin led Wells with 13 kills and Brannon Perdicho had 12 kills. Scott Litvin had 20 assists and Josh Undari had 15 assists. Undari and Trysten McLaughlin served aces. Perdicho led Wells with 10 digs. Jonathan Haines had two solo blocks and three block assists.
