NEAC All-Conference Honors For Three Men's Volleyball Players
Three Wells College men's volleyball student-athletes earned all-conference recognition as the North Eastern Athletic Conference announced its 2017 Men's Volleyball All-Conference Teams and annual awards. Brannon Perdicho was a first-team selection, Caden O'Loughlin was on the second team, and Ryan Turner earned a place on the third team.
Brannon Pedicho, a junior outside hitter from Victor, N.Y., earned all-conference recognition for the third consecutive year and is on the All-NEAC First Team for the first time. He was a second-team honoree as a freshman and sophomore. Perdicho ranks first in the NEAC with 374 kills and is fourth in kills per set at 3.56. He holds the team lead in total digs (233) and hitting percentage (.232). Perdicho was NEAC Player of the Week for the week ending Feb. 5. He is the third Wells men's volleyball player in program history to earn All-NEAC First Team honors, joining 2014 honorees John Farruggia and Derek Nipps.
Caden O'Loughlin, a freshman outside hitter from Louisville, Ky., was voted to the All-NEAC Second Team. O'Loughlin earned his first career all-conference award. He was second on the team with 323 kills and 3.11 kills per set for a .224 hitting percentage. He ranked tied for second on the Express with 26 service aces. O'Loughlin had seven solo blocks, 32 block assists, and 217 digs.
Ryan Turner, a sophomore middle hitter/right-side hitter from Liverpool, N.Y. is on the All-NEAC Third Team. He had a team-leading hitting percentage of .283 with 132 kills and just 36 errors. He appeared in all 30 matches for the Express. Turner was involved in 75 blocks on the year, with 14 solo blocks and 61 block assists. It is his first career all-conference award.
Wells has established a program record with an 18-win regular season, the most wins in program history, and continues play this weekend at the NEAC Championships. It's the second time in program history that Wells is in the playoffs. The Express plays a semifinal match Friday, April 14 against Lancaster Bible College at 6:30 p.m. The NEAC tournament is hosted by Penn State Altoona. In the first semifinal, Altoona takes on SUNY Polytechnic Institute. Saturday's championship match is at 1 p.m.
