Wells Men's Volleyball Defeats J&W; Falls To Nazareth

The Wells College men's volleyball team went 1-1 in a pair of matches Friday, Feb. 16 at Nazareth College in Rochester. In the opening match of the day, Wells fell to host Nazareth in three sets. The Express answered in the second match of the day with a four-set win over Johnson & Wales University. Wells has an 8-5 overall record on the season and will play twice on Saturday, Feb. 17 – competing in a 1 p.m. match against St. John Fisher College and a 3 p.m. match against Lasell College.

Nazareth 3, Wells 0

Nazareth received the most votes of teams not ranked in the national poll this week, and the Golden Flyers won by set scores of 25-17, 25-20, 25-10.

The Express had 28 kills and 24 hitting errors, for an overall match hitting percentage of .053.

Brannon Perdicho led Wells with nine kills and hit .238. Robert Patzer and Caden O'Loughlin had seven kills each. Josh Undari had 22 assists in the match. O'Loughlin served the lone ace for Wells. Scott Litvin and Perdicho had four digs each.

Wells 3, Johnson & Wales 1

Wells defeated Johnson & Wales for the second time this season. Set scores were 13-25, 25-13, 25-19, 25-20. On the opening weekend of the season at SUNY Poly, Wells defeated J&W in five sets.

Wells dropped the first set, but came back strong in the second set led by a .611 hitting percentage on 12 kills with just one error.

Brannon Perdicho led Wells with 13 kills in the match. Caden O'Loughlin had nine and Robert Patzer had eight. Wells served five aces, led by two from Josh Undari. Undari had 22 assists and Scott Litvin had 19. Kevin Batmunkh led Wells with nine digs and O'Loughlin and Perdicho had seven digs each. Jonathan Haines had two solo blocks and two block assists.
