Two Wins For Men's Volleyball On Saturday

The Wells College men's volleyball team completed a strong weekend of play at the Nazareth College Invitational with two match wins on Saturday, Feb. 17. Wells defeated St. John Fisher in four sets and Lasell College in three sets. Wells won three of four matches on the weekend and improved its season record to 10-5 on the season.

The Express will return to action Saturday, Feb. 24 with two games at SUNY Polytechnic Institute. Wells faces SUNY Poly in its first conference match of the year. Then Wells will go up against Mount St. Vincent.

Wells 3, St. John Fisher 1

Set scores were 25-19, 23-25, 25-16, 25-23. The Express built a 21-14 lead in the fourth set and held off a late surge from Fisher to close out the set and close out the match.

Wells hit .247 in the match with 59 total kills. Josh Undari had 28 assists and Scott Litvin had 13 assists. Three players reached double figures in kills and three had double digits in digs. Brannon Perdicho had 16 kills, Caden O'Loughlin had 11 and Robert Patzer had 10. On the defensive side, Undari had 16 digs with O'Loughlin and Kevin Batmunkh picking up 11 digs. Perdicho added nine digs.

Ryan Turner was a presence at the net with two solo blocks and three block assists. Undari had a solo block and three block assists.

Wells 3, Lasell 0

Set scores were 26-24, 25-18, 25-21 as Wells took the opening set in extra points and completed the sweep with wins in the second and third sets. In the opening set, Wells trailed 23-17 but ran off seven points in a row to take the lead. On the seven-point run, Brannon Perdicho, Robert Patzer, and Caden O'Loughlin had kills, and Patzer and Jonathan Haines combined on two blocks. O'Loughlin had a kill and Lasell had a hitting error to close out the final two points of the set.

Wells hit .462 in the second set with 14 kills and two errors.

Stats leaders for Wells in the match were O'Loughlin with 12 kills and Perdicho with 10. Josh Undari had 20 assists and Scott Litvin had 15. Undari led Wells with 11 digs and Kevin Batmunkh had 10 digs. Patzer served three aces.
