Five-Set Win For Men's Volleyball In NEAC Opener

The Wells College men's volleyball team opened conference play with a five-set win at SUNY Polytechnic Institute on Saturday, Feb. 24. The Express improved to 11-5 overall and is 1-0 in the NEAC. SUNY Poly is 5-10 overall and 0-1 in the conference.

Set scores were 25-21, 25-18, 29-31, 22-25, 15-11. The Express took the first two sets, lost a razor-thin third set in extra points, and then closed things in the fifth set with a 15-11 win.

Wells hit .280 in the match and had three players reach double-figures in kills. Brannon Perdicho had 25 kills with a .281 hitting percentage. In 64 swings, he had just seven errors against his 25 kills. Robert Patzer had 15 kills and Caden O'Loughlin had 12 kills.

Josh Undari had 60 assists on 65 total kills for the Express.

Jonathan Haines led Wells with five block assists and Undari added three block assists.

Four players helped the defensive effort with double-digit digs. O'Loughlin and Perdicho had 13 digs each,  Kevin Batmunkh had 11 and Undari had 10.

Wells is back in action Friday, March 2 with a NEAC game at Keuka at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 23, Wells will play neutral-site games at Keuka against Purchase and Southern Vermont.
