Men's Volleyball Wins 3-0 Over Hiram

The Wells College men's volleyball team continued its strong start to the 2019 season with a straight-sets win over Hiram College on Friday, Feb. 1 at the Nazareth College Invitational. Set scores were 25-15, 25-15, 25-23.

Wells is 5-2 on the year through seven matches and will play two more matched Saturday, Feb. 2 at the Nazareth event, taking on Elms College at 11 a.m. and Thiel College at 1 p.m.

Caden O'Loughlin led Wells with 12 kills and he hit .242 in the match. He added nine digs, one solo block, one block assist, and served two aces.

Josh Undari had 17 assists and Cooper Colesante had 12 assists. Wells had 39 kills on 90 swings for a .267 team hitting percentage. Joe Zimmerman led Wells with 10 digs. Zimmerman and Colesante each had two block assists. Ryan Turner had six kills and a .714 hitting percentage.

Wells took advantage of eight hitting errors from Hiram in each of the first two sets as Wells took each by a 25-15 score. In the second set, Wells hit .407 with 14 kills and three errors in 27 attacks. Wells had a match-high 16 kills in the third set.

Wells led the third set 22-17, but Hiram climbed back within one point. The two decisive points for Wells came on kills from O'Loughlin.

Hiram, located in northeastern Ohio, is now 1-6 on the season.
