Wells Duo Captures NEAC Weekly Honors

Wells College men's volleyball players captured both North Eastern Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors for the final week of the 2019 regular season. Wells junior Caden O'Loughlin was the NEAC Player of the Week and sophomore Robert Patzer was the NEAC Defensive Player of the Week.

O'Loughlin earned his sixth NEAC weekly honor of the season, three as Player of the Week and three as Defensive Player of the Week. In three Wells wins last week, O'Loughlin totaled 36 kills and 40 points in the final week of the regular season. The junior outside hitter helped lead the Express to the second seed in the upcoming NEAC playoffs with a .531 hitting percentage against NEAC opponents in two victories. O'Loughlin also recorded two assists, 17 digs and four total blocks.

Patzer is the NEAC Defensive Player of the Week for the second week in a row and the third time this season. He averaged 1.44 digs and 0.78 blocks per set last week as Wells won three matches. In three matches, Patzer had 13 digs, 1 solo block and six block assists to anchor the defense. In addition to his defensive effort, he added 24 kills and four service aces to help Wells secure the No. 2 seed in the NEAC Tournament.

Wells will begin NEAC tournament play with a semifinal match against SUNY Poly on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Lancaster Bible College.
