Shumski Earns NEAC First Team All-Conference; MXC Places Fifth At NEAC Championship

ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – Senior captain Brayden Shumski (Everett, Wash.) posted a time of 29:53, placing seventh overall in the 91 runner field at the North Eastern Athletic Conference Championships Saturday afternoon at Lorimer Park. As a team, the Express placed fifth out of 10 qualifying teams in the championship race.

Shumski's 8K time of 29:53 earned him First Team All-Conference recognition following the race. Last season, Shumski earned First Team All-Conference honors with an 8K time of 30:00 while in both 2009 and 2010, Shumski collected Second Team All-Conference recognition. He remains the only men's cross country student-athlete to be selected to an All-Tournament squad.

Freshman Stephen Armstrong (Erin, N.Y.) completed the course with a time of 31:59, averaging a 6:26 mile pace to rank 26th. Paul Hernon (New Hartford, N.Y.) finished in 32nd place, posting a time of 32:57 on the afternoon. Tony Petri (East Middlebury, Vt.) finished 44th overall, crossing the line with a time of 34:14.

Tim Lambert (Clay, N.Y.) placed 57th overall as an individual, finishing with a time of 36:02. Andrew Judson (Court Gambrillis, Md.) completed the course with a time of 37:37 while Zach Tripsas (Elka Park, N.Y.) finished in 40:10, placing him 78th. Andrew Eiffert (Canandaigua, N.Y.) rounded out the field for the Express with a time of 41:48.
