Men's Cross Country Places Eighth At CCOC Meet In Geneva

The Wells College men's cross country team finished in eighth place in a field of 15 teams at the Cross Country Only Conference championship meet hosted by Hobart and William Smith Colleges at Seneca Lake State Park on Saturday, Oct. 15.

Two Express runners broke the 30-minute mark over the eight-kilometer course. Adam M. Sleezer was the first across the line for Wells in 29 minutes, 8 seconds and placed 48th overall in a field of 145 competitors. Tanner Mingen was 54th with a time of 29:35. It was a 23-second improvement for Mingen over his time in the same event during the 2015 season.

Antonio D'Arpino, Ross Cobb and John Tolley rounded out the scoring lineup for Wells. D'Arpino ran 30:30, Cobb was at 31:27 and Tolley clocked 31:55. All three of those runners bettered their times over the 2015 event, with Tolley nearly two minutes better and Cobb almost four minutes better than the previous year.

Bradlee Sherman (33:26) and Ky'aire Reed (34:33) were the other entrants for Wells in the race.

The Express returns to action at the Hamilton College Short-Course Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 22 as the team continues to gear up for the North Eastern Athletic Conference Championships on Oct. 29.
