The Wells College athletics department along with top college administrators announced Spring award winners for each team from the 2021 season through a live virtual show on Tuesday, May 4 at Phipps Hall. Also honored were top academic teams and individuals, Chi Alpha Sigma members and seniors.

Dr. Jack Daniels Elected To National Hall Of Fame
Dr. Jack Daniels, the recently-retired cross country coach at Wells College, is part of the 2019 induction class of the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association’s Coaches Hall of Fame. Daniels will be one of six coaches honored at the 2019 USTFCCCA Convention in Orlando, Fla., on Dec. 17.

The Wells College women’s and men’s cross country teams will compete in the 2018 North Eastern Athletic Conference championship meet Saturday, Oct. 27. Lancaster Bible will serve as the host institution for the championship race, which will take place on a course throughout the campus grounds.

The Wells College men’s cross country team ran at the Hamilton College Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 6. The course was run over the Hamilton College Golf Course and covered eight kilometers on a windy fall morning.

The Wells College men’s cross country team returned to competitive action at the Cazenovia College Homecoming Invitational. The Express finished 11th in the team standings with three runners among the top-60 individuals.

The Wells College men’s cross country team ran Saturday, Sept. 15 at the University of Rochester Invitational. The Genesee Valley Park course measured eight kilometers and the field of competition included 16 teams and 215 runners.

Wells Athletes Demonstrate Success In Academics
A total of 78 Wells Express student-athletes earned recognition as North Eastern Athletic Conference Scholar-Athletes for the 2016-17 academic year. Athletes must have earned a 3.4 or higher GPA over the year to qualify for this distinction.

Wells Express at Seneca 7's Race
Geneva, NY- This past Saturday, four Wells cross country runners participated in the second annual Seneca 7 in Geneva, NY. Teams of seven runners tackled three legs each as they raced the 77.7 miles around Seneca Lake. Each runner will put a total of 9.5 – 14.3 miles by the end of their final leg. Veronica Frisenda, Bryant Sanders, Evando Nascimento and Brayden Shumski were a part of The Express and CO. Team #140. The Express & CO. started in the fourth and final wave of runners at 9:30 a.m. Saturday morning. At 6:49 p.m. Runner #7, Brayden Shumski crossed the finish line with the entire team by his side. The Express and CO. finished the 77.7 miles in 9 hours and 19 minutes with an average mile pace of 7:11.
