Softball Split For Wells At SUNY Canton

The Wells College softball team claimed one of its most impressive victories of the season with a 10-0 win over SUNY Canton in the first game of a doubleheader at Canton, N.Y. on Wednesday, April 26. The host Kangaroos won the second game 15-5.

Wells is 7-19 on the season and SUNY Canton is 15-10. The Express is back in action with North Eastern Athletic Conference games Friday at Morrisville State College.

Wells 10, SUNY Canton 0

Naomi Kubo pitched a complete-game shutout and allowed just five hits over seven innings. She had eight strikeouts, issued six walks, and all five hits allowed were singles. Wells banged out 16 hits and scored at least one run in five of seven innings.

Kubo and Baylee Pearce had three hits each. Sydney Cullen, Autumn McLain, Jessica Conover, and Clara DiMino had two hits apiece. Pearce drove in four runs. Kubo scored four runs.

SUNY Canton 15, Wells 5

The Roos took the second game behind six-run innings in the first and fourth and they added three in the second. Wells scored single runs in the second and fifth, and had a three-run inning in the top of the fourth.

Clara DiMino and Shelby Medovich had two hits each for the Express. DiMino had two RBIs and Medovich doubled and scored twice.

Baylee Pearce started and pitched the first inning. Jessica Conover pitched the final three innings.
