Cazenovia Sweeps Doubleheader From Wells Softball

The Wells College softball team fell in both games of a North Eastern Athletic Conference doubleheader against Cazenovia College by scores of 2-1 and 6-2 in games played at Onondaga Community College in Syracuse, N.Y. Wells is 9-21 overall and 8-14 in the NEAC. Cazenovia is 19-15 overall and 17-5 in the conference.

Cazenovia 2, Wells 1

Wells took a lead with a run in the top of the first on an RBI double from Baylee Pearce that brought in Naomi Kubo. The Wildcats scored twice in the bottom of the fifth and those proved to be the decisive runs.

Kubo pitched and allowed two runs on three hits with two walks and four strikeouts. Kubo and Pearce both doubled in the first inning, and Pearce singled later in the game for the other Wells hit.

Cazenovia 6, Wells 2

The Wildcats scored four in the bottom of the first and two more in the bottom of the sixth in the game two victory.

Wells had six hits, all singles, including two by Naomi Kubo. Baylee Pearce pitched and had five strikeouts and one walk in six innings. She allowed 10 hits and four earned runs.
