Penn College Takes Two From Wells Softball

The Wells College softball team dropped a pair of games at Penn College to conclude the 2018 season. Wells fell in the first game 8-0 in five innings, and Penn College won 2-1 in the second game. Wells was 7-18 overall and 6-10 in North Eastern Athletic Conference play for the season.

Penn College pitcher Kassie Winters held Wells without a hit over the five innings. Autumn McLain reached base on a walk and Naomi Kubo was hit by a pitch and reached in the fourth. Later in the fourth, Lizzie Monnat reached base on an error.

Naomi Kubo and Jessica Conover split the pitching duties for the Express.

Penn College 2, Wells 1

Naomi Kubo homered for Wells in the top of the fifth inning for Wells to tie the score 1-1. Penn College answered with a run in the bottom of the fifth and held on for the 2-1 win. It was the fifth homer of the year for Kubo in NEAC games, which led the league in that category. Kubo also won the NEAC batting title and led the league in slugging percentage.

Dallia Rorick and Autumn Nolan each singled for the Express.

Jessica Conover pitched six strong innings. She allowed six hits and two runs, both runs were unearned. Conover issued one walk.
