Softball Falls In Doubleheader On Senior Day

The Wells College softball team honored its four seniors prior to a Saturday, April 13 doubleheader against College of Saint Elizabeth. Carley Ryan, Autumn McLain, Lizzie Monnat, and Ellie Schwoebel were recognized in the pre-game ceremony. Saint Elizabeth won the first game 4-0 and took the second game 10-2 in five innings.

Saint Elizabeth 4, Wells 0

The Eagles scored one in the top of the first and held on to that one-run lead until the sixth where they scored a pair of insurance runs and added one more in the seventh. Wells was limited to two hits in the game, a fifth-inning single by Jenna Devora and a seventh-inning double by Naomi Kubo. Kubo pitched a good game for Wells. She allowed four runs, one of which was earned, on 11 hits with six strikeouts.

Saint Elizabeth 10, Wells 2 (5 innings)

Wells scored in the bottom of the first on a two-out double by Jenna Devora to bring in Lizzie Monnat. The Eagles took control with a six-run third inning. Devora was 3-for-3 at the plate and drove in Monnat again in the fifth for the second Wells run. Monnat was on base via her first career triple to the right-field fence. Autumn McLain and Tori Miller also hit safely for Wells. Naomi Kubo reached twice by base on balls. Jessica Conover was the losing pitcher with two strikeouts.
