St. Lawrence Sweeps Softball Doubleheader

The Wells College softball team played a pair of non-conference games on Wednesday, April 17 and lost both games at St. Lawrence University. The Saints took the first game 12-4 in six innings and won the second game 9-1 in five innings.

Wells will return to North Eastern Athletic Conference play on Saturday, April 20 at Keuka College.

ST. LAWRENCE 12, WELLS 4 (6 inn.)

Wells had eight hits in the game including two each for Naomi Kubo and Gabby Sawyer. Kubo walked in the first and later came in to score on a wild pitch. Sawyer and Kubo both singled in the third and Sawyer scored on a wild pitch. In the fifth, Ellie Schwoebel reached on a single and moved to second on an error. Kubo singled to bring in Schwoebel, and Carley Ryan had an RBI single to drive in Kubo.

ST. LAWRENCE 9, WELLS 1 (5 inn.)

Autumn McClain had a pair of hits for Wells, singles in the second and fourth innings. Naomi Kubo and Lizzie Monnat each doubled, and  The Wells run came in the fourth on a bases-loaded walk to Sawyer, which forced home Jenna Devora, who started the rally with a single.
