Express Fall in Home Opening Set vs SUNY Cobleskill

The Express Softball squad held their long-awaited home opening series vs the SUNY Cobleskill Fighting Tigers on a chilly and windy Friday evening up at the Wells College Turf. The Wells women held strong for the beginning of both matchups, but eventually succumbed to a flurry of Tiger knocks and their own untimely errors, as they fell 12-1 in game 1 and 14-2 in game 2.

First year standout Christa Koagel built upon her early season success in the 2-game set, batting an impressive 3-for-6 with a run scored and a huge RBI triple that found the outfield fence in game 1. Koagel also turned a beautiful unassisted double play in the 2nd inning of game 1, which halted the Tigers momentum and gave the Express a chance to strike back.

Morgan BrownNatalie Day, and Taylor Robinson also contrubuted to some Express run-scoring opportunities, with Brown using her speed on the basepaths to secure a run, while Day and Robinson each knocked in an RBI.

Bailey Friot also skimmed the left-field line for an impressive double to bring back some Express momentum in game 1.

The Express will be right back at it tomorrow when they travel to Elmira for a 2-game bout with the Soaring Eagles.
