PENN ST.-BERKS ROLLS TO VICTORY OVER EXPRESS

(Reading, Pa..)─ The Penn. St. Berks Nittany Lions held the Wells College women's basketball team to just 6 of 22 from the floor in the first half en route to a 71-38 North Eastern Athletic Conference victory Saturday afternoon in Reading, Pa. The loss drops the Express to 2-11 (2-9 NEAC) while the Nittany Lions improve to 6-6 (5-4 NEAC).

Ashley Roser (Taberg, N.Y./Camden) led the Express with 11 points, 14 rebounds, and four assists. Kristen Ryan (Syracuse, N.Y./Bishop Ludden) added eight points and eight rebounds, while Rachel Mattraw (Chaumont, N.Y./Lyme Central) chipped in with six points and four rebounds to round out the highlights for Wells.

All nine players for Berks reached the scoring column led by Steph Binder with a game high 12 points. Taylor Kredler finished with 11 points, while Jamie Norris and Shakilya Stone each added ten points for the Nittany Lions.

The Express shot just 29 percent from the floor for the game while the Nittany Lions finished at 45 percent, including 21 of 34 from the charity stripe. Both teams played evenly on the boards finishing deadlocked at 35 rebounds each.

The Express held an early 8-4 lead but a 15-0 run by the Nittany Lions killed any momentum as they would hold Wells to 11 points over the final 17 minutes of play in the first half. It would be much of the same for the Express in the second half as the Nittany Lions cruised to the conference victory.

The Express return to action tomorrow against NEAC opponent Penn. St. Abington with the game set to tip-off at 12 p.m. in Abington, Pa.
