The Express jumped out to an 11-0 lead and wasn't until a Fields lay-up at 10:50 of the first half that the Phoenix would get on the board. Wells continued to control the pace of the game leading by as many as 12 in the half but the Phoenix would close with a short run on a 3-pointer by Butler and a lay-up by Fields,  trimming the lead to 25-18 heading into the break.

The Phoenix picked up right where they left off in the first half, going on a 10-2 run to open the second half, taking their first lead of the game 28-27 with 11:57 remaining.

Tied at 31-31, the Express went on an 8-0 run to open up the game while clutch free throws by Stone and Roser with less than four minutes remaining would put the game out of reach for the Phoenix as Wells held on for the conference victory.

The Express return to action tomorrow at 2 p.m. against NEAC opponent College of St. Elizabeth in Aurora.
