COBLESKILL CONTAINS EXPRESS

(Aurora, N.Y.)─ The SUNY Cobleskill Fighting Tigers held Wells College to 16 points in the first half en route to a 52-34 victory over the Express in North Eastern Athletic Conference women's basketball action Thursday evening in Aurora. The Fighting Tigers improve to 10-9 (9-7 NEAC), while the Express fall to 3-16 (3-13 NEAC).

Ashley Roser (Taberg, N.Y./Camden) led the Express with a game high 18 points, 16 rebounds, and three blocks in 40 minutes of play. Gabrielle Palozzola (Syracuse, N.Y./Bishop Ludden) pitched in with six points, three rebounds, and three assists.

Alexis Hauser (Albany, N.Y./Albany) led the Fighting Tigers with 14 points and four rebounds. Chelcy Moore (Albany, N.Y./Albany) added 16 rebounds and chipped in with eight points, while Katora Brown (Manhattan, N.Y./Park East) and Kaitlin Myers (Dannemora, N.Y./Saranac) each finished with 10 points for Cobleskill.

Both teams struggled from the floor with the Fighting Tigers finishing 35 percent from the field, while the Express shot just 29.5 percent. Cobleskill played tough defense forcing 20 turnovers, while finishing with 13 steals.

The Express scored the game's first bucket but Cobleskill built a seven point lead (11-4) midway through the first half and led by as many as 11 points before closing the half with a 25-16 lead.

Wells trimmed the lead to six (28-22), on two free throws by Roser and lay-up by Kristen Ryan early in the second half but, the six point deficit would be as close as the Express would come as the Fighting Tigers played a tight defense the rest of the way, cruising to the late season conference victory.

The Express return to action on Saturday afternoon against NEAC opponent SUNY IT with the game set to tip at 1 p.m. in Aurora.
